Mr. Aminu Manya Achida, representing Wurno Constituency, has emerged the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly. Achida, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress was nominated by a lawmaker from the Peoples Democratic Party, who are in the minority in ninth Assembly.
Achida scored 16 votes to defeat his closest rival Sidi, who scored 13 votes while one vote was declared invalid. Similarly, the state Assembly members elected Abubakar Magaji (PDP- Bodinga North), as the Deputy Speaker.
The speaker commended the members for giving him the opportunity to serve in that capacity, he promised them robust and better legislative leadership for the overall development of Sokoto state
