FG Biggest Promoter Of Fake News, Lied About IPPIS Enrollment - ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan (UI) chapter has said that the federal government is the greatest promoter of fake news following its claim that it has signed up 39,000 lecturers on the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS).

Omole also said it is a thing of comedy for the federal government to say it uncovered 100 fake professors in Nigerian institutions when it still wanted verification of their names from university administrations.

The union asked the government to stop going against the law in the bid to fight corruption, saying it could help in that regard in a law-abiding manner. According to ASUU, its opposition against the payroll system is based on law and in the protection of its members’ rights, saying allegation that it supports corruption is untrue.

"The government is now specialist in fake news enrolling fictitious lecturers. Our members stand with their Union. We are fighting a just cause and we have won government. Their desperation stinks and their lawlessness is legion,” it said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Despite the directive by the federal government that all members of the union should be enrolled in the system, the association on Thursday, November 21, said that its members would not turn up for the exercise.
