President Bola Tinubu has ordered the use of 5,000 AI-powered security cameras to help fight insecurity in Plateau State.
This decision came after a Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, where about 28 people were killed and many others were injured.
During his visit to Jos, the president showed sympathy to the victims’ families, saying no amount of money can replace the lives lost.
Tinubu told security leaders, including the defence minister, army chief, and police chief, to find those responsible for the attack.
He also said the minister of communications and digital economy will oversee the quick installation of the cameras, starting in Jos and later covering the entire state.
The president promised that the government will do everything possible to ensure justice and support the affected families, while also taking steps to prevent future attacks.
Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, said the state had been relatively peaceful before the incident and expressed hope that the security efforts will improve stability.
